If it were to be faster-paced, there is a chance the world would fall apart and the plot would have to suffer. I was drawn in from the very first page and couldn't put it down until I had finished the entire book.That's before I even get into how much I don't jibe with the idea that avoiding necessary medical treatment at the cost of your full lifespan is a mutually-exclusive choice with, y'know, living. Gordon cook sizzling bacon, slurping delicious ramen, and preparing fried squid burgers were all drawn beautifully. Mysterious Past: Both Gordon and Arisa have secrets in their past: Gordon is a former Vald general who faked his own death, and Arisa is an Artificial Human who Escaped from the Lab.

You can see how that reaches toward sentimentality, tying into the idea of a "short" life nonetheless enjoyed to the fullest. And let's see, to "respect" her in some sense, he gives her a kind of superpower, when he remains just this crazy food truck owner. Doesn't help that the military seems to be after Gordon and the random, constantly hungry girl he picked up in the desert. This reminds me of the sexist/misogynist Bond girls, who are mostly eye candy until some of them have mad fighting skills, which Bond grudgingly acknowledges.The series was always about Ogaki admittedly indulging himself in all his favorite things, so it fits about as well as him letting Gordon eat delicious-looking meals or enjoy surrogate sauna time. At New York Comic Con 2021, Viz Media announced that they licensed the series for English publication. It's a story that effectively combines the slice-of-life, fantasy, and underdog genres in a digestible package.

Centering its final stretch on Arisa's future expiration date also lets Ogaki settle on something like a heart for Crazy Food Truck's story. This leads to a sequence that could most generously be read as tying into that whole "love for the zest of life" theme but otherwise comes off as a trite development that only serves to trip some of the most basic storytelling flags in the genres that Crazy Food Truck has chosen to occupy by this point.Sidebar - it drives me crazy that having a 17-year-old flashing her chest all over doesn’t get this an explicit content warning, while the superlative Sex Ed 120% (a series that is about 20x more wholesome and educational) does. He doesn't even use a false name, which makes it easy for the military to discover who he is once he gets on their radar. When he encounters Arisa, a naked girl sleeping in the middle of nowhere, he takes on the unintended traveling companion and her unexpected appetite.

Ogaki could have just had the series trail off, letting the journey continue until he could pick it up again. A steady series with an older main character rocks my boat always, so I'm quite happy this has been published in English. Gordon, a food truck owner, is trying to exist in a post apocalyptic world when he stumbles upon a naked woman named Arisa in the desert. Both Arisa and Gordon kick some butt and they form quite a team despite not knowing each other for that long.
