According to recent research, more than half of all British carers – a staggering 56 per cent – are unaware that snowsuits and bulky outdoor wear are the wrong choice for correct in-car child safety. It's simple, in an accident bulky clothing can squash down, making straps too loose to keep their child secure.
Experts at the Department of Transport say up to 80 per cent of us aren’t using car seats safely – with poor harness tension the number one failing.
And with more than three quarters of parents – 76 per cent – regularly dressing little ones in coats before setting off in the car, the scale of the problem is huge.
Our new campaign 'Sit Tight' is being launched by Ruby and GINGER to make carers aware of the dangers and offer clear advice about how to keep babies and young children safe and comfortable.
The Sit Tight initiative, backed by Child Seat Safety Expert, Kat Furlong, gives clear guidance to help parents test the safety of their car seat.
