About this deal

The first thing to note is that a Cawdor gang needs to deal with alignment . The Cawdor player can choose between regular Cawdor fighters, who the rest of the hive would see as dangerous fanatics, and Redemptionists, who the rest of House Cawdor see as dangerous fanatics. Due to their habit of burning everyone and everything in sight, Redemptionists are Outlaws, and are generally unwelcome in most of the Underhive. This path is followed by the Cawdor gangs who relish in the death of all things. The nearly-heretical Cult of the True Resurrection follows the Path of the Doomed. This cult believes that the only way to save humanity is for the Emperor to finally die and the Imperium to fall, which will herald a phoenix-like resurgence of humanity across the galaxy. Are they wrong? Who’s to say? Are they insane and psychotically violent extremists who will do anything to end the Imperium and kill the Emperor? Yes! And that freaking rips. Chain Glaive [Word-Keeper, Firebrand]: If you’re making a melee Word-Keeper or (Emperor forbid) Firebrand, this is probably the best weapon for the job. It hits hard, is Versatile, and does decent damage. Can’t go wrong. Rating: B Frag Grenades [anyone]: Frag Grenades are usually a solid choice, but with access to Incendiary Charges from the get-go, they lose some luster in a Cawdor gang. Rating: D

Our final new fighter is the Fanatical version of the Juve. Twice as expensive, though. For your extra 20 credits you get a 4+ WS, and that’s about it. No Devout Masses. The Zealot does, however, get access to Redemptionist Pistols and Combat Weapons, but that’s about it. For skills, you’re looking at Ferocity primary, with Combat and Piety as your secondaries. There’s a case to load one of these jerks up with an eviscerator and let ‘em saw their way through the Underhive, but it is a hefty price tag for what amounts to a 1-wound Juve. A strict adherence to the vengeful spirit of the Imperial Creed is the first step down the road to becoming a Redemptionist. Faithful communities from all across the Imperium of Man produce Redemptionists and their cults. Book of Redemption: Reading the book with a Basic action gives friendly fighters within 6” a reroll of the d3 when charging, and each friendly can reroll 1 natural 1 to hit per activation. Super useful! A front-line redemptor priest can’t go wrong with this item. Scarlet Skulls, a third gang under the control of Catafengi's cult, with territory on the far side of Fulcrum Spike from Fall Sands, also destroyed by Lago [3e] Before we get into fighter types and roles, let’s talk about Redemptionists, Outlaws, and Pious or Fanatical gangs. As mentioned before, Cawdor gangs can be made up of Cawdor gangers, Redemptionists, or both. Each ganger comes with one of two rules (among others, naturally): Pious for Cawdor, Fanatical for Redemptionists. After putting together your gang, you need to count how many Pious and Fanatical fighters you have in your gang. If you have more Pious fighters, your gang is Law-Abiding, and if you have more Fanatical fighters, your gang is Outlaw. If it’s a tie, it’s broken by whichever way the Leader leans. The difference between Law-Abiding and Outlaw really only matters in campaigns, and both come with bonuses and restrictions. Additionally, Pious and Fanatical allow for (very) situational Cool rerolls, so that’s cool, I guess.

While many view House Cawdor as a single unified whole, in truth it is home to many sub-cults and splinter factions that are often at odds with one another. Most are divided into broad categories of Zealots, Doomed, and Redeemers. Zealots are the numerous frenzied faithful and are divided into many cults. Doomed such as the Forsaken believe everything mankind has been told is a lie while the Scions of the Void cut out their tongues to learn the despair of silence. Redeemers are inspired by an enduring hatred of all of mankind's enemies. They include Cults such as the off-world firebrands of the Red Redemption, the followers of Klovis the Redeemer, and Glorium Excrucium who excel at the art of torture. These sub-faiths are further divided into many gangs, many of which are a faith unto themselves. [15c] Redemptionist Brethren (Ganger): Sheesh, it would have been nice for the Necro crew to come up with another name for Redemptionist gangers, but whatever. Redemptionist Brethren have similarly mediocre stats when compared to Cawdor Brethren, but don’t have access to blunderpoles and don’t get Devout Masses. And they’re 5 credits more expensive. Unfortunately, the only reason to take Redemptionist Brethren is to pad out your Fanatical fighters to become or stay Outlaws. As gangers, they’re honestly fine , but they’re nowhere near the optimal choice.

Typically, these mobs are generally formed by the incensed rabble of poor working class hive city citizens who decide to take vigilante justice against the first group of perceived sinners that they find. Heavy Flamer [Word-Keeper, Redemptor Priest, Firebrand, Deacon]: Heavy Flamers. Not even once. Rating: F- Close Combat Weapons Second from the right, this brother is armed with an Autogun Rifle with under-slung Exterminator, an Autopistol and a Knife. There are 4 Paths of Faith available to a Cawdor gang. When the player recruits their Leader, they must choose from the list of available Paths of Faith: I'd love your help community. I probably have enough there to build a couple gangs, but I think thats the problem. Too many options, don't know where to go.Lots of bodies? I've read thats a big Cawdor strength, and the new rule about getting extra boys at the beginning is really cool. They will provide the cults with resources as well as targets. Confessors or other clergy will often accompany them to document and bear witness to the faithful's campaigns of cleansing. Those Redemptionists who prove themselves competent or especially devoted are often recruited into the service of a cardinal or into a cell of Inquisition Acolytes.
