About this deal

The mild mannered reporter Clark Kent was barely present in it. But maybe the focus was more on the Superman part. And the rest is just rehashing the familiar story: Metropolis, journalism, Lois, Lex, yadda yadda yadda, the end. It’s such a boring book. A Mind-Switch in Time • Brainiac • Superman: The Coming of Atlas • Death of Superman • Doomed • For the Man Who Has Everything • Funeral for a Friend • Kingdom Come • Krypton No More • Last Son • Maelstrom • New Krypton • Public Enemies • Reign of Doomsday • Reign of the Supermen • Revenge • Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes • The Final Days of Superman • The Great Phantom Peril • The Supergirl from Krypton • The Third Kryptonian • Two for the Death of One • Up, Up and Away! • Warworld • Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? • Who Took the Super out of Superman! Year Four introduces the Greek Gods, revealing Ares' scheme to empower himself through escalating the conflict between the Regime and the Insurgency into a war by involving his fellow gods alongside enlisting the aid of Darkseid. This leads to a confrontation between Zeus and Highfather during which the latter convinces Zeus to stop being manipulated by Ares' scheme after which the gods leave, with Zeus decreeing that they shall never return to Earth.

Keeping to very minor spoilers, Clark spends a brief stint in the military. This is new, a modernization, but frankly it was boring, much like the rest of this. Yes, we know Clark has to hide his powers, yes we know he won't kill, blah blah blah. Towards the end, we get to see and hear Batman, but his dialogue was so oft-putting and cringe-worthy. Even more polarizing than Miller's version in All-Star Batman and Robin. It simply doesn't sound like Bruce. More of an angry thug. On Apokolips, Darkseid's son Kalibak hears of Superman's new role as Earth's protector and wishes to test him. He leads a parademon invasion of Earth, coincidentally during a public relations event at which Superman and Lex Luthor hope to spread their message of public safety. Enraged, Superman pummels Kalibak to death, but not before Kalibak taunts him over his failure to save many innocent lives. Batman's and Superman's teams band together to fend off the invasion, but all appears lost until Superman uses his powers to vaporize the parademons. At a cost of thousands of lives, the invasion is stopped and Superman is more popular than ever. Atrocious. Vile. A stain in the legacy of not only Superman, but also the remaining members of the Holy Trinity of DC, Batman and Wonder Woman. Action Comics • Superman • Adventures of Superman • Superman: The Man of Steel • Superman: The Man of Tomorrow • Superman/Batman • Other titles... At one point you see a panel where a copy of the Daily Planet is sitting on a desk with a headline that reads, simply, "WTF?" Yeah, exactly. To all of this.

One of the lesser celebrated Green Lanterns, Guy Gardner, has a deep exploration of his origins after being kidnapped and cloned by the Draal. He is forced to relive the abuses from his alcoholic father while they pull his memories from his mind to be implanted into the clone. Frank is known for Year One stories, and he took some heat because of All-Star Batman and Robin, and things like that, and that feeds the perception that he’s not a Superman fan. But I think that first issue especially is pretty reverent to the spirit of the character, and issue two is something completely new that we’ve never seen. I know Frank always says that his Batman stories all take place in one corner of the universe. Is this the Superman of those Batman stories as well? The writing only deserves two stars, but I'm giving one extra for John Romita Jr.'s art. His last few years at Marvel resulted in less than stellar work from him. I think you could tell that he was dissatisfied working there. Even though he started on Superman after first coming to DC, this work seems much better: his anatomy has improved, eliminating those long and thin body limbs as well as reducing the number of "scratches/hashmarks", resulting in a much cleaner style. This may simply be to Miki's inking. So Frank Miller, hubris laden, bored silly and seeking to put a few more dollars into his accounts has decided to write a Year One story for Superman. The funny thing is that it starts out well enough. No really. I actually liked the story for the first part- from the destruction of Krypton to the Clark Kent in High School...I was fine with it and thought it an interesting take on the Superman origin story. a b Bosier, Jen (January 21, 2013). "The Grim, Dark Future: 'Injustice: Gods Among Us #1' Comic Review". Forbes.

Year One features the Insurgency led by Batman against the Justice League led by Superman and the establishment of the One Earth Regime.Lex Luthor is found as the lone survivor in the ruins of Metropolis. He meets with Superman's League and wishes to join them, promising to recruit more members to Superman's side. Meanwhile, Batman's League kidnaps Hawkgirl and replaces her with the shapeshifting Martian Manhunter, thereby gaining a spy in Superman's League. En route to Earth, Green Lantern Kyle Rayner is ambushed and killed by Yellow Lanterns led by Sinestro, who joins Superman's new regime as his new de facto advisor. The Guardians of the Universe, watching from Oa, dispatch their leader Ganthet and Green Lantern Guy Gardner to investigate the situation on Earth.

The final essay omitted these lines and, as a whole, was more from Cap’s perspective, and considerably more generic and uplifting. Waid later told Newsarama that “the abridged version that’s being circulated by news outlets severely mischaracterizes what was actually written.” Normally, I'm not a fan of John Romita Jr.'s art, but I actually thought this was the best work I've ever personally seen from him. That's not to say I loved it, but I didn't (for once) hate it. Polygon reached out to both Marvel and DC representatives for comment or clarification on the companies’ internal stance on overt political content in its books, but did not receive responses by press time. Έτσι κάθε τεύχος συνδέει τον Clark και με μία διαφορετική γυναίκα, ενώ προφανώς στο τρίτο τεύχος κάνει την εμφάνισή της για πρώτη φορά η Lois, αλλά και η Wonder Woman, η οποία επίσης έχει υπάρξει ε I’ve had an artist call me and say, “I don’t know how to tell a story without a script.” It was a couple of years ago, and I said, “No, you can. You’ve done it before.”“No, I’ve only worked from a script.”“Wow, and you get paid for this, huh?” I honestly think everybody should be able to do it this way, but not everybody can. Maybe people can’t tell stories well, and they just needed the crutch, or the writers feel completed to direct everybody. I’ve had writers give me a tome, and I’ve had writers give me one paragraph. Fortunately, the artists that are writers now – John Byrne was an artist and became a writer. Frank Miller is an artist that became a writer – they know that I can tell a story, or they prefer it that way. I prefer it. I don’t think anybody should work from script, but there should be some dialogue perhaps in the plot, so that their artist knows, “When somebody’s angry, I’m going to say these words and design that panel appropriately.” My teeth began to grind when Clark joined the military. Besides the nonsensical logistics of how exactly is Superman going to pass a physical? They do draw blood and give you shots. If Superman can stop a bullet how is a needle going to pierce his arm? And this doesn't even bring to account that Superman shouldn't be learning how to kill people in the first place. It goes completely against his character. Oh and then Clark Kent goes AWOL to screw a mermaid. Did I forgot to mention Superman can now breathe water even though he doesn't have gills? The issue ends with Superman becoming the king of Atlantis and getting hitched to Lori Lemaris only to be forgotten the very next issue. A miniseries known as Injustice vs. Masters of the Universe featuring a crossover with the Masters of the Universe franchise was first published on July 18, 2018, by DC Comics. It is written by Tim Seeley with art by Freddie Williams II, [12] and follows the second game's alternate ending, where Superman wins out over Batman.

Readers get to see a young Kal-El shortly after he lands on the Kent farm. The story takes the journey through his life, with a high focus on his teenage years while he learns to deal with his powers around other people. Things take an unlikely detour as he dives into other ventures that include joining the navy and finding Atlantis before eventually continuing his adventure in Metropolis and meeting future Justice League members Batman and Wonder Woman. The part that takes place in Atlantis was also really nice. I specially love it builds up its glorious reveal slowly with Clark swimming deeper and deeper to the bottom of the sea. origin stories στα comics And look, I know it had to be incredibly hard to try and retell the Superman origin story...again. I get that, really.

What is Superman: Year One about? This three-issue story invites readers to revisit Superman’s origins from the destruction of Krypton and exile of Kal-El to his introduction in Metropolis as the Man of Steel. As a stranger to Earth, he learns to stand up to those who are in need and to control his powers before inviting any form of alienation from those who do not see eye to eye with him. It’s through personal experiences of love and danger, that he understands what he is capable of doing, what he believes in and what he wants to give the world, but he will never forget his roots and what his adoptive parents have allowed him to become. origin ιστορίας του Superman γίνεται πολλές φορές με τρόπο ασταθή και βιαστικό. Couch, Aaron (July 21, 2021). "DC's 'Injustice' Sets Cast for Animated Movie (Exclusive)". The Hollywood Reporter . Retrieved July 29, 2021. The final chapter is where it completely derailed in my books as the story lost its focus and expanded its cast to include other heroes and villains that shouldn’t have been in this story in the first place—amongst them all, he unsurprisingly decided to ruin the Dark Knight with some of the worse dialogues of all time. This whole chapter almost felt like it that was designed to prove the people at Warner Bros and DC Comics that he had a “better” idea—the premise of it could’ve been good but the execution here was horrible—than director Zach Snyder as to what Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) should’ve been.
